Documents from systems used before Enterprise Justice Odyssey are a common exception. The Smart Search guide says public converted documents are available on the courthouse terminal rather than the web portal. Juvenile offender, domestic, guardianship, and guardianship or conservatorship documents also do not appear on the web portal, even where a courthouse terminal may provide access to public parts.
Republic County Court Records Access Rules
Kansas public-records policy starts with K.S.A. 45-216, which favors open public records unless another law closes them. K.S.A. 45-218 requires agencies to act on inspection requests as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. K.S.A. 45-219 allows fees and costs for inspection and copies, and K.S.A. 45-221 lists records that are not required to be disclosed.
Court access also depends on court rules and the Judicial Branch process. Expungement is a separate process. Under K.S.A. 21-6614, certain convictions, arrest records, and diversion agreements may be eligible for expungement through the court where the record exists. A person usually needs the case number, filing county, charge, disposition, completion dates, and waiting-period information before filing. Eligibility depends on the offense and history, so no court records search should treat a missing case as proof that no record ever existed.
